Katherine (Kate) is a strong advocate for under-served youth and has dedicated her career to their educational development. Before coming to Beacon House in April 2018, Kate served on the executive team of The Learning Together Company, an organization which develops reading and math remediation programs for students in grades 2-12, as its Director of Professional Development. Earlier in her career, she developed curricula for and implemented after-school programs serving students ages 5-18 as a Resident Services Manager at AHC, Inc. in Arlington, VA. Kate has over 15 years of professional experience in areas including program management, team-building, curriculum development, professional development and volunteer management. She has a BA degree in American Studies from George Washington University and an MPA degree in Nonprofit Management from George Mason University. Additionally, she has been a board member and participating member of local and multi-national organizations dedicated to topics including youth development, clean water initiatives and nonprofit support.
